1. _I_n_t_r_o_d_u_c_t_i_o_n
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a standard for
telephony where information is transferred by digital rather
than analog signals.
The ISDN execution environment includes support for PPP on
the Indy, O2, and OCTANE systems. Additionally, the Indy
supports ASI.
Note: Packaged with these release notes is a separate sheet
that contains the Software License Agreement. This
software is provided to you solely under the terms
and conditions of the Software License Agreement.
Please take a few moments to review the Agreement.

1.2 _O_n_-_L_i_n_e__R_e_l_e_a_s_e__N_o_t_e_s
After you install the on-line release notes for a product
(the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
your screen.
If you have a graphics system, choose ``Release Notes'' from
the Help toolchest. This displays the _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical
browser for the on-line release notes.
Refer to the _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) man page for information on
options to this command.
If you do not have a graphics system, you can use the
_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s command. Refer to the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) man page for
accessing the on-line release notes.
1.3 _O_n_-_L_i_n_e__U_s_e_r_'_s__G_u_i_d_e
After you install the on-line book for this product (the
_b_o_o_k_s subsystem), you can view the on-line _I_S_D_N _U_s_e_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e
by following these steps:
1. Choose ``On-Line Books'' from the Help toolchest.
2. In the IRIS InSight Library window, double-click the
book on the SGI_EndUser bookshelf that's entitled
``ISDN User's Guide''.
3. For more information on using the online book, choose
a topic from its Help menu.
The _I_S_D_N _U_s_e_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e shows you how to:
+o Order the necessary ISDN hardware and services.
+o Set up the ISDN hardware.
+o Configure the ISDN software.
+o Use your ISDN connection.
You may find it helpful to print out Chapter 2 of the online
book, as it covers hardware setup that you may want to
perform while the system is powered off.
